Quién soy y por qué necesito tu ayuda // Who am I and why I need your help

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Humberto González Bustillo y soy crítico y aspirante a cineasta de la ciudad de Maracaibo, Venezuela. Soy graduado en Periodismo, y he participado en varios talleres y cursos de guión, dirección y producción cinematográfica. Esto me dio la oportunidad de escribir sobre películas, actividiad que disfruto tanto como verlas. Actualmente escribo en Revista Ojo y Revista Tendencia, dos de las publicaciones con más importancia e impacto en suelo nacional, donde escribo y analizo sobre filmes.

Poder escribir sobre cine me dio el coraje y el empuje  de aplicar al Talents Buenos Aires, una de las residencias de cine más prestigiosas en el mundo, organizada por la Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires, el Berlinale y el Buenos Aires Festival Independiente de Cine. El primero de marzo recibí la noticia de que fui seleccionado junto a otros 66 latinoamericanos, de alrededor de 1100 aplicaciones enviadas, para participar en esta edición del Talents. ¿Pueden imaginárselo? Pero acá está el problema: El Talents Buenos Aires provee a sus participantes de la estadía y la comida, pero no del boleto de avión.

Es por esto que he decidido crear esta campaña. En otros países, no sería demasiado problema conseguir el boleto, pero en Venezuela lo es, pues vivimos una fuerte crisis que dificulta la obtención de cualquier bien común. Y, por supuesto, los boletos de avión no son caso aparte. ¿Cuál es la fecha tope? El Talents pone el 11 de marzo como día en el cual debe notificarse si asistiré al evento, es por eso que he planteado la meta de reunir 800 dólares para poder costear el pasaje de avión. Estoy seguro que con su grano de arena, podré ir a Buenos Aires y vivir una de las experiencias más gratificantes posibles, y así poder dar un paso más en mi camino por convertirme en el crítico y cineasta que quiero ser. ¡Por favor! Ayúdame a representar a Venezuela en el Talents, y así llevar nuestra cultura cinematográfica hasta allá.

Me di cuenta que la otra campaña que había lanzado era un poco tediosa y complicada para tener acceso a las donaciones que se hacían, por lo cual he decidido hacerlo de esta forma. Lo que hago no me permite ofrecer demasiado como agradecimiento, pero aquí está mi idea:

 

-Todas esas personas que decidan hacer alguna donación, deben enviarme una descripción corta de sí mismos, y yo me encargaré de buscar 3 películas que piense podrían gustarles.

-Me gustaría ofrecer alguna charla, conversatorio o taller sobre crítica y sobre cine. Sería bueno sentarnos e indagar sobre el arte, a conocer nuestras perspectivas sobre el cine.

Intentaré actualizar este blog diariamente con nuevas noticias, teniéndolos al tanto de cómo están las cosas.

Who am I and why I need your help // Quién soy y por qué necesito tu ayuda

Hi, hello! My name is Humberto González Bustillo and i’m a film critic and an aspiring filmmaker from Maracaibo, Venezuela. I graduated from journalism and have done several workshops in filmmaking. This gave me the opportunity to write about films, which I love as much as I love watching them. I am currently writing for Revista Ojo and Revista Tendencia, two of the biggest publications in my country, where I analyze films and write about them.

Being able to write about it gave me the courage to apply to the Talents Buenos Aires, one of the most prestigious film residencies in the world, organized by Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, the Berlinale and the Buenos Aires Festival Independiente de Cine. In march 1st I found out that I was one of the 66 people that got selected to go to the Talents. I was one of them among the 1100 applications that they received in all South America. Can you imagine? But here’s the issue: Talents Buenos Aires pays for everything, except the airplane ticket to go there.

This is why I have decided to create this campaign. In other countries, it wouldn’t be such a tedious and impossible task, but in Venezuela, it definitely is. We’re struggling with one of the biggest economical and political crisis in the history of the country. Medical supplies, food and other basic needs are like gold. And yes, as i’m sure you guessed, buying airplane tickets ain’t that different. I have set up a goal of $800 to buy the ticket to go to the Talents Buenos Aires, because i’m sure that it will be one of the most remarkable experiences I can get in life, and surely it will mean a huge step forward in my journey as a film critic and filmmaker. So, please, precious soul on the other side, help me get there.

I found out that the other campaign that I launched was very difficult, because getting to the money that people sent was very tedious. Which is why i’m doing it this way. What I do doesn’t allow me to offer much in change, but here’s my idea:

Every single person that donates something will have to send me a short description of themselves and i’ll find three films that I think they’ll like. 

Also, i’ll try to update the blog daily with pictures and news, keeping you up on what’s going on.
